Golkowski
_Golkowski
He claims he doesn't remember his first name. He's a Lithuanian of Polish origin who spent some time in America, where he "practised art and irony" and developed a liking for American jazz and blues. These prints all date from that period, when his native country was still occupied by the Soviets. "Those pictures are not meant to be bitter or anything like that," he says. "They just tell the truth the way it was and the truth, however ugly, has a kind of beauty, like Guernica, for example."
