Loss or salvation?
"The houses, the places which seemed so important to you - all of them fly away like soap bubbles into space."
While Jurate Mykolaityte presents the ephemeral nature of the material world as bubbles that can float away out of reach, it is possible also to view the bubbles as that which escapes loss and ruin. In the lower right hand corner lies ruin, but floating away, undestroyed, are those things that are a permanent part of ourselves, our moral character, our intelligence, wisdom, our ability to survive even total loss: the buildings and landscape that constitute ourselves.
